WHERE TO GO? |
|
|
On
this page of our web site we would like to
give a brief guide to the best places to visit
during your stay!
Needless to say, Puglia (just like the rest of
Italy!) is very rich in "centri
storici" historic city/town centres with
beautiful monuments, churches, museums and
other architectural beauties! Just in case you
do not get to see all of these historic
centres please make sure that you do not
forget to take a walk through the centro
storico of the Florence of the South -
Lecce.

Ostuni
is yet another town with a charming city centre
which has given it the name & fame of being
"The White City". The trullo paradise is
also not to be forgotten, so Alberobello is well
worth a visit! All three of the mentioned towns are
big tourist attractions and yet remain 100% Italian
in every sense.
As far as coastlines go Puglia has the best of it
all!!! The Adriatic coastline from Otranto towards
Santa Maria di Leuca
|
| is
rugged often compared with Sorrento and is a
favourite getaway for the Italian rich and famous.
As you drive up or down the coast you will
come across delightful villages such as Castro,
Santa Cesarea Terme, Tricase, and many others. The Adriatic coastline continues from Otranto northwards all the way north up towards Ostuni and Fasano with various types of beaches (i.e. public-private, rocky-sandy) lining the coast along the way. |
 |
 |
The Ionian coast, on the other hand, offers visitors golden sandy beaches as well as beautiful towns like Gallipoli and an abundance of restaurants!!
Don't forget that if scuba diving is an activity you enjoy visit Otranto and its many diving centres.
If you are a golf enthusiast you can enjoy a round of golf at any of the following ;
The "Acaya Golf Club" www.acayagolfclub.it , near Lecce,
The "San Domenico Golf Club" www.imasseria.com/salsa/it/golf.html
between Ostuni and Fasano.
The "Riva dei Tessali Golf Club" www.rivadeitessali.it near Taranto. |
|
Selva di Fasano and Marina di Ostuni are both stunning with their natural beauty. While you are around Fasano visit the "Zoo Safari" where lions actually come up to your car (your windows must be shut!!) . Giraffes and camels put their heads into your car and eat apples out of your hands. One of the highlights is when you leave your car to go to the fairground where you find the "Monkey Train". Make sure you have bought lots of nuts at the entrance to enjoy the monkey experience at its best. This is a great day out for both adults and children.

Italian cuisine is of course as important (if not more important!) as its architecture and nature. After living in this food loving county for quite sometime now and enjoying the best Puglian cuisine and wine, we feel that it is only fair for us to share a few of our secret spots with the rest of the world! We may start by mentioning the lovely Masseria Gattamora also famous for its traditional menu.
This "volta a stella" restaurant is located just outside Uggiano La Chiesa, a small village south-west of Otranto. In order to get there you need to follow for Uggiano from |
| Otranto and as you arrive into the main square of Uggiano turn left before the church and follow the indications for "La
Gattamora". For further information please visit
www.gattamora.it ! |
